What is this project about?
The goal was to alter digital images to create a magazine ad. It could be about a real or fictional product, a public service announcement, an event, etc.
My design decisions
Firstly, I selected a photo from my classmate Chris, which was from a quick photoshoot we did earlier this year. He was wearing a cool pair of sunglasses and was in a perfect laid-back position for a very stylish fashion ad. I then selected his vest, which was originally blue, and switched the colour to a more neutral and cleaner black. Following this, I proceeded to add a Prada tie to his outfit (to which I gave a slight red for a little pop of colour). Adding the tie was meant to balance the streetwear fit of Chris with a higher-end element. I then found this old, almost creepy, cement staircase background on Unsplash. I removed the people who were originally in the photo and added Chris in there. The next step was to adjust my subject’s colour so that he fit in the scene and add shadows where they were necessary. Finally, I chose a slogan for the ad campaign, “FRAMES FOR THE FEARLESS,” and I added the necessary logos and text. We ended up with this very modern, confident, and fashionable ad for Prada eyewear sunglasses.
