Typographic Poster

"ROCKWELL" Typographic poster

What is the project about?

For this project, we had to design a typographic poster using only a pre-assigned typeface. Multiple elements were necessary. First, a 350-word research summary about the pre-assigned typeface (who created it, when, its classifications, etc.). Then, a chosen letter in uppercase and lowercase, with 3 identified typeface terminologies. It must also include all the numerals and letters of the typeface, with ten chosen glyphs

My design decisions

This was one of the first posters I’ve ever done in graphic design; it was a brand-new thing for me. It’s a pretty good way to see where I come from. My assigned typeface was Rockwell. I started by researching more about the typeface and wrote down my research summary. Following this, I created the background of my typographic poster, which is heavily inspired by Constructivism (I did not know anything about the movement then). I also added, in the background and at low opacity, a repetition of the year the typeface came out. Finally, I included all the necessary elements and made a dynamic layout for my research summary.
